Rubber seal for port glass

Rubber seal for port glass

Postby Winterhawk » Wed Oct 07, 2009 7:57 am

I got the ports in last week. They leak, it’s coming from the seals around the glass.
I have what I assume are the original aluminum port lights in my Y30. I’m in need of new rubber, both the channel piece the glass sits in, and the other piece that fills the gap on the inside.

Anyone have a resource?

I haven't measured the thickness of the glass or how deep that channel is in the spline, but something like what is shown here: http://www.swisco.com/shower-door-glazi ... 59-215/251 might work. Swisco has glazing spline for thinner glass as well. I'm interested in finding something that works too, since I've got some windows that leak around the spline which has gotten hard and doesn't seal well any more. Any way, what you're looking for is known is glazing spline in the industry. I'm sure there are other sources. Let us know what you come up with. I don't know what that other filler piece is called, but these glazing supply places should have that as well.

Do either of you know if I can just bring one of my ports into a glazing place and say "fix it"? I rebedded mine... and in tightenting one down, I put a hairline crack in the glass.
