My name is Rich and I owned a Yankee 30 in Berkeley, Ca. for several years and did a little racing with the Singlehanded Sailing Society there. I got great help from Peter Jones on "Emerald" and Ed on "Chelonia" as tohow to do it. I loaded Steadfast up on a lowboy trailer along with my GMC Jimmy up on the gooseneck and trucked her to Jacksonville. I was working for West Marine at the time and went east to open the Ortega River store in Jacksonville. It was pretty cool to have her trucked out and then 10 days later I flew from Oakland to Jax and there she was in a boatyard just waiting for me to put on some paint and launch her to go explore a whole new ocean. Two years later I did the same thing again and trucked her to Punta Gorda on the West coast of Florida. I was living aboard at the time and the company paid for household moving expenses so... Not three months later I sailed her down to Marathon in the Keys and started at that West Marine store. I later sold her but always wondered where she ended up. She had a black mast and a black boom which was a piece of art made by Ballenger Spars back in California. She originally had the Albin engine but was removed. I sailed her engineless for awhile and not being able to afford a diesel had a Honda four stroke outboard on her when she was sold. My god what a sweet looking boat and a hell of a sailer. I miss the way she sailed herself upwind in the bay. I like to hear from anyone who sailed to Hawaii and back in a Yankee 30. Great to see this website!
