Yankee 30 "Impetuous"
Impetuous is an early Yankee 30, hull number 7 owned by Rob Walsh of Reno,
NV. He purchased Impetuous recently and trailered her to Reno where he
is working to bring her back into sailing condition. His comments and photos
are below.
"My name is Rob Walsh and I have purchased the Yankee, Impetuous.
She has been seriously neglected for quite some time, and I have been seriously
rebuilding her. One time I have to believe that she was one of the
fastest of all Yankees. But all the extra winches, cleats, rails,
is all there for some serious racing. I do not believe that the serious
racing is the direction that I want to go. I bought her to do some
serious cruising and The extra cleating, rails, blocks, winches,
instruments have seriously put some wounds in her. And I have started
to repair her from the holes that the additional rigging has put in her
. But as I explore into your web site and the pictures that you have
in their I see that there is a few extra winches and soft rigging that
could be a benefit. I'm not sure how far I should restore her back
to original? And I was wondering if you, or someone that you may
know could help me? I know you are interested in pictures and follow-up
of my restoration of her. I have taken quite a few pictures along
the way. I have to believe that I will restore her to almost as good
as new if not as good as new. I enjoy labor of love and have put
a lot of time and money into her. I also have built a serious trailer
for her. I posted in your web site a letter of help to build a trailer,
but got no reply. Although I did track down Monte who had purchased
the only trailer I saw for sale at one time. He was more than willing
to allow me to see it although I never did get out there. I did end
up on my own figuring out how to built a trailer to haul her And
without a glitch brought her from San Pedro to Reno, Nevada where I am
rebuilding her. I have been a cabinet maker all my life. I
am good with mechanical, painting, body repair and metal fabrication which
helps me to bring this project back to life. If you could help I
would appreciate it."
